‘Better late than never.’ Perhaps, this proverb fits in just fine with the latest revealings; Ducati will make electric motorcycles in the future. This is not another rumor but solid news because the same has been confirmed by the company’s CEO.

During the recent podium celebrations of the Motostudent racing event at the Aragon racetrack in Spain, Claudio Domenicali said, “The future is electric and we’re not far from beginning production of the series.”

Previous news about electric Ducati bikes

Although true, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard electric motorcycles and the Italian motorcycle brand in the same conversation. Ducati has previously worked with the Milan Polytechnic School of Design to develop an electric motorcycle concept which was called the Ducati Zero. This concept involved a modified Hypermotard that had been fitted with a Zero FX motor. Claudio Domenicali even test rode the concept in Thailand.

What would the Ducati e-bike be like?

This is something that is going to remain a mystery until the company reveals the details. There is simply no pieces to this puzzle; no clues to solve the case. Ducati is known for producing fast, spectacular, and powerful motorcycles. This makes us feel that its electric motorcycle would be somewhat in the same league. But we can be completely wrong, too. If you want to know more details like specs and all of Ducati’s upcoming electric bike, then as of now the only thing that you can do is wait.

Ducati will, obviously, be not the first company to step into the electric motorcycle genre. There are other brands like Energica, Zero Motorcycles, etc., that are already making e-bikes for quite some time now and they are doing pretty great. Even Harley-Davidson Livewire has now become a reality. So, yes, perhaps, Ducati is a bit late to the party, and we’re not complaining. We’re happy that it could make it and we’re looking forward to enjoying its company.
