My appreciation for Deus Ex Machina started back in late 2010/early 2011 when I first saw photos of their custom café racers and bobbers doing the rounds of the internet. I was really impressed by their builds which offered simplicity and functional design and stayed ‘true’ to the original concept of motorcycling. Naturally, I wanted one but didn’t know how I’d manage to get one. They were based in Australia and it was beyond my means to order one or commission a build.
Most of you will know them because of their Yard Built special using an XJR1300. This was in collaboration with Yamaha and the result was outstanding.
However, I just learnt that Deus Ex Machina is all set to open their first store in the Middle East in Dubai a little later this year. Deus promotes and celebrates a custom motorcycle culture that first appeared in Europe and America in the 1940s which has recently been revived by groups of young enthusiasts in Japan, America and Australia. If you haven’t checked out their motorcycles, drop whatever you’re doing and visit www.deuscustoms.com
