BMW Motorrad has surely been busy handling all the recalls that had been announced in past few weeks, but that didn’t stop it from shifting its focus from what’s required in the market. The giant motorcycle manufacturer has announced the new features or updates that its 2018 R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure will be getting.
To begin with, the 2018 models of R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure will be available in new colour schemes – red, blue and a metallic black. The next one is the main feature here and it is the inclusion of a new high-res TFT instrument display; the GS series finally catching up with the changing trend in the motorcycle industry. To navigate through the display, one can use the buttons mounted on the handlebars. Also, one can connect a smartphone to this display. BMW Motorrad has even given an option to get integrated GPS.
Another new feature is the Emergency Call option. What it does is send emergency warning signal in case of an unfortunate event like an accident or a collision. To avoid confusion and make this system accurate, the collision and banking angle sensors will monitor every move and are well calibrated to tell a difference between serious accidents and minor mistakes.
Other new features include an optional electronically adjustable suspension and ‘Shift Assist Pro’ quick-shifter, along with keyless ignition on the GS Adventure, pro-riding modes with additional Dynamic and Enduro modes, as well as Dynamic Pro and Enduro Pro modes. The GS Adventure also gets optional electronic suspension with automatic damping adjustment and automatic self-levelling function.
