Abu Dhabi Motors, BMW Group’s importer in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain has welcomed a brand new BMW HP4 RACE at its dealership. The HP4 RACE is one of just 750 ever to be made!
The BMW HP4 RACE is something of a phenom among motorcycles. It is one of the very few machines produced, albeit in limited numbers, that are practically superbike factory racing replicas. But BMW Motorrad doesn’t make just any replica. The HP4 RACE has authentic hardware and a full suite of software to back up its race bike credentials.
The chassis of the bike is the first of its kind in the world, for BMW built it entirely out of carbon fiber. It weighs just 7.8 kilograms and is more rigid than steel despite. The wheels are also made of carbon fiber, enabling a 30% weight reduction over standard alloy wheels. Furthermore, there is carbon fiber all over its body, including the fenders, fairing, and an aluminium fuel tank, which helps in massive weight reduction. The HP4 RACE weighs 171 kilos fully fueled and road ready.
Propelling so little weight on the road is a full race prepped inline-4 998cc engine from the S1000RR, that pushes 215 hp at full chat. With a stratospheric redline of 14,500 rpm, the HP4 RACE breathes fire, literally. Managing all that power and torque of 120 Nm is a new gearbox with closely spaced ratios specifically developed for the RACE, with optional secondary ratios (with their own pinions and chain sprockets). A race-bred Akrapovic full system exhaust rounds up the powertrain.
Ohlins FGR 300 USD forks up front and an Ohlins TTX36 GP monoshock out back are components that are race-proven on several motorcycles racing in World Superbike and MotoGP. Brembo supplied the advanced brake calipers to provide ample stopping power for a machine of this caliber. Both the front and rear GP4 PR monobloc calipers on the HP4 RACE are also used on MotoGP bikes. In addition to steel braided lines (of course), a sophisticated electronic safety net also takes care of stopping the bike.
The HP4 RACE gets weight optimized electricals, and a pretty extensive software list of rider safety and assistance aids. The 2D dashboard displays all the info you’ll ever need and comes with transferable data memory. There is Dynamic Traction Control, Wheelie Control, programmable engine braking response EBR (adjustable up to fifteen levels), and clever additions like Launch Control and Pit Lane Limiter.
The attention to detail behind this bike is stunning and results in a spectacular handmade motorcycle that can set record lap times whatever track it is unleashed on. Only 750 of these handcrafted beauties will ever be made.
