Apparently, BMW has been developing a new flagship cruiser motorcycle whose test mule was recently spotted being tested on a public road in Germany. There are a few interesting spy shots of the bike which give away some details.
Clearly, this new BMW cruiser is going to be a large motorcycle. We can see in the pictures that the test bike appears bulky. It also has beefier tires to match the overall look. The rider is seated in an upright posture which tells us that it’s going to be a comfortable ride on which long distance journeys won’t hurt.
There’s also a large windscreen at the front to deflect air. This would make traveling at high speeds easier and keep the rider from tiring out sooner. We also spot a number of dials on the instrument cluster of the motorcycle. We wouldn’t be surprised to see some high-end tech features like smartphone connectivity, music system, advanced multimedia system, numerous safety features, etc.
Another interesting thing is the engine. It’s very likely that this cruiser is going to be powered by a big twin-cylinder, air-cooled, boxer engine. We don’t know its exact displacement but we think BMW would keep it somewhere around 1,800cc so that it can give a fight to other similar motorcycles like Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special, Honda Gold Wing, and Indian Chieftain Dark Horse.
The test mule in the pictures looks like a production-ready model. Perhaps, it is in the last few testing stages. We are expecting to see this latest cruiser at one of the international motorcycles shows this year.
