BMW Motorrad is all set to launch its electric scooter, the C Evolution, in the US. As a part of its US pilot program, BMW will first launch the C Evolution in California. Later when the electric scooter will gain popularity, it will analyse the market and demand of the same and move ahead accordingly. BMW is asking a price of $13,750 for the C Evolution.
The BMW C Evolution is world’s first premium large electric scooter. It has been available in the European market for last 3 years and has done pretty well. It uses 94-Ah batteries and has a max power of 48 hp and around 73 Nm of torque. The batteries used in the C Evolution scooter are the same ones which provide electric power to BMW i3. The total weight of the C Evolution is approx 272 kg and it can achieve a top speed of 129 kph (80 mph).
If we talk about the range of the scooter, it can provide a coverage of approx 160 km (100 miles) on one full charge. The batteries take 8 hours to get a charge of 80 per cent. It has a 5-year warranty or around 48,200 km (30,000 miles), whichever comes earlier.
Other features of the C Evolution include heated grips, comfortable rider seat, an alarm system, large multifunctional TFT display with detailed information, etc. For comfortable rides, it has got upside down front forks set up and an adjustable rear mono shock. The stopping power comes from the dual disc brake set up at the front and a single disc at the rear. It comes with ABS as standard along with other safety features like Torque Control Assist (TCA), Reverse Assist and 4 different riding modes.
