Last year in May, BMW revealed its 9Cento Concept at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como, Italy. The bike grabbed a lot of attention and raised many questions like, ‘When is it going to become a reality?’, and ‘What would it be called?’. Well, it seems BMW is now ready to answer all of them as the 9Cento Concept will soon become a reality.

As per the latest reports, BMW Motorrad has filed for a patent for the F850 RS (yes, that’s the name of the 9Cento Concept) with the National Institute of Industrial Property (INP) in Brazil. The patent image reveals that the production-ready model looks quite similar to the original concept that we saw last year. It appears that the bike has been designed to primarily be a mile-cruncher. It’s tall windshield and upright riding position would allow cruising at high speeds without tiring out that quickly.

Powering the BMW F850 RS would be the same engine that comes with the F850 GS – an 853cc parallel-twin unit with liquid-cooling producing 93 horsepower and 92 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. BMW is likely to make certain changes in the tuning of the engine to make it more suitable for the F850 RS’ character.

As of now, there are no further details regarding the price and launch of the F850 RS. however, it’s being anticipated that BMW might showcase it at the 2019 EICMA show in November this year.
