Aprilia had our mouth wide open when it took the sheets off of its brand-new RS660 at the EICMA 2019. It was a phenomenal motorcycle. And since it’s a new platform that Aprilia has developed, using it for other bikes was inevitable. So we got the Tuono 660 Concept and there’s another middle-weight ADV bike called Tuareg 660.
While the other two bikes, RS660 and Tuono 660 Concept, were fully revealed in flesh, the Tuareg 660 was only teased, very well teased, to be honest.
So from whatever look that we had of the Tuareg 660 at the EICMA 2019, it can be concluded that this bike will have dual-sport tyres that would work well in both on- and off-road situations. Also, these rubbers are mounted on spoke wheels which we are assuming are of 21-inch and 19-inch for the front and rear. This combination would again prove to be beneficial for off-road riding.
Clearly, the Tuareg 660 will share the same 660cc parallel-twin engine that we saw in the RS660 and Tuono 660. Power and torque figures would be more or less the same. However, Aprilia would play around with the way they are delivered to the rear wheel for this ADV motorcycle.
Some of the other features that we could expect from an ADV of such kind are knuckle guards, long-travel suspension, high set exhaust, sump guard, digital dash with Bluetooth connectivity, etc.
