Aleix Espargaro has been given an extension of two years with the Aprilia Racing team. The news became official just before the French GP race at Le Mans. The Spaniard will be a part of the team until at least the end of 2020.

Speaking about his new contract, Aleix said, “I am very happy to stay with Aprilia for another two years. For the first time in my career, I am able to have stability and this is important to improve and grow together. I have a sole objective, an obsession and that is to take the RS-GP to the podium. I wish to thank Aprilia and my entire team. We will continue working at 100% through 2020.”

Aleix has been very competitive in the MotoGP championship. He has shown good talent and also helped Aprilia Racing to develop the RS-GP. Over the years on this race machine, Aleix has started to know it inside out which has allowed him to reach extreme limits of the machine and himself.

Aprilia Racing Manager, Romano Albesiano, commented on the extension of Aleix’s contract, “This renewal is first and foremost acknowledgement of Aleix’s qualities. He is a fast rider and an exemplary professional. From the time he arrived, he has brought passion and motivation to the garage with a positive effect on the entire team.

He further added, “His contribution to the growth of the RS-GP is undeniable and I am certain that the next two years will allow us to achieve important results and above all that they will bring us back to involving, thrilling and inspiring young people and the many fans that Aprilia has all over the world.”

We congratulate Aleix and Aprilia for their new and even stronger bond in the MotoGP championship. We are expecting to see good competition in the future years. However, another fact that we’d have to see is where would be Scott Redding heading?
