There has been a document filed with California Air Resources Board (CARB) that reveals that Kawasaki is planning to update the engine of its Ninja 1000 for 2020 model. Although there weren’t any specifics mentioned, the engine gets a new code.
Yeah, a new code – current code is 1.04AAG, new code is 1.04AAJ. And just like you, we also don’t know what these actually mean. What we do know is that it’s very likely that the displacement of the engine of the 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 is going to be the same – 1043cc.
The document also mentioned some readings for hydrocarbon and hydrocarbon + nitrogen oxide emission levels which tell us that this new engine is very likely going to be Euro 5 compliant.
Apart from the new engine, we are also suspecting the 2020 Ninja 1000 to get a few design alterations so that it looks much more aggressive and sportier, somewhat like the Ninja 650 and Ninja ZX-6R.
It is being speculated that Kawasaki would showcase its new 2020 Ninja 1000 at either the Tokyo Motor Show or the EICMA 2019.
