After teasing the bike for weeks, Triumph has now officially revealed the 2019 Speed Twin. The all-new 2019 Speed Twin is a part of the Bonneville series. Triumph has taken all the positives from the Thruxton and Bonneville T120 and put it in the latest Speed Twin.
Powering the new Speed is the same 1200cc engine that we’re already familiar with. But there are a few changes done to enhance the performance. The engine gets a low-inertia crankshaft, high-compression head, mass-optimized engine covers, a revised clutch assembly, and magnesium cam covers. All of this reduces the weight of the engine by 2.5kg. As for the figures, the new Speed Twin will have 96hp and 112Nm.
Triumph has focused a lot on weight saving. You can get an idea of it just by the aforementioned new engine parts. Apart from that, Triumph has also used a new anodized aluminium swingarm. So overall, the new 2019 Speed Twin weighs at 196kg which is 10kg lighter than the dry weight of the Thruxton R.
The 2019 Triumph Speed Twin has a saddle height of 807mm. This should attract a lot of short riders. As far as handling is concerned, Triumph has used non-adjustable 41mm KYB cartridge-type forks at the front and twin KYB shocks at the rear, 17-inch seven-spoke cast aluminium wheels with Pirelli Rosso Corsa III tires, and a capable chassis that can take a beating.
There are three riding modes available – Rain, Road, and Sport – courtesy the implementation of Ride-by-wire technology. Switching between these modes can be done on the go. The riding triangle on the new Speed Twin gives an upright and comfortable riding position with a hint of aggressiveness or sportiness.
The braking duties at the front are handled by dual 305mm rotors coupled to four-pot Brembo calipers. And at the rear, we have a single 220mm rotor with Nissin floating caliper. We also have ABS and traction control.
The new 2019 Speed Twin is a beautiful machine. It has an elegant visual appeal. Elements like bar-end mirrors, a clean tail section, brushed aluminium mudguards, throttle body covers, side panel finishers, heel guards, all make the Speed Twin very appealing and desirable.
Triumph has not released the pricing and availability details yet. It is being anticipated that we are going to get all the official details in Feb 2019. Triumph will also have a plethora of accessories available for the 2019 Speed Twin.
