What a race it was! After looking at the free practice sessions this weekend and even the warm-up lap before the race, we weren’t expecting Dovizioso to steal the crown! The second half (after the summer break) of 2017 MotoGP is proving to be much more interesting, thrilling and surprising than the first one.
Valentino Rossi had a great start and took the lead in the race at Silverstone. Following him were Marquez, Vinales and Dovizioso. After half of the laps were over, it seemed that Rossi will win the British GP. But Dovizioso started gaining places with each passing lap and the fight between the members of the leading group was thrilling to watch.
Marquez was putting all his effort and was under pressure from Dovizioso. Both these riders passed each other for a few times in a single lap. But it wasn’t the day for Marquez as his Honda gave up on him after its engine failed. This was his second DNF. Dovizioso saw this opportunity and knew it is his chance to push and lead the 2017 MotoGP. And he did.
In the final three laps, Rossi was being continuously attacked by Dovizioso and he lost his 1st position. As soon as Dovizioso took Rossi, it was Vinales who tagged along with him and he too passed Rossi.
With his victory in the British GP, the 31-year-old Italian, Andrea Dovizioso is now leading the 2017 MotoGP season with a total of 183 points. Following him is Marc Marquez with 174 points and then Vinales with 170 points.
