Motorcycles like the KTM RC 390, Yamaha YZF R3, and Honda CBR250RR, have popularized the sub 500cc segment tremendously. These are perfect for a beginner. Considering the growing popularity of such motorcycles, Suzuki, too, seems to be interested in stepping into the segment. It has filed patents for what looks like to be a GSX-R300.
It is being anticipated that the GSX-R300 would be powered by a parallel-twin engine with a power output of somewhere around 40-45 bhp. This is similar to what the other bikes in this segment have got. Plus, the fairing of the GSX-R300 would aid to make it go faster.
As per the drawings that we can see here, there’s going to be a single disc setup at the front. It could be possibly a 300-320mm rotor. The rear would get the usual single disc as well. We can also spot a USD fork setup at the front, and a mono-suspension unit at the rear. The high position of the tail makes the GSX-R300 look very sporty.
We are expecting a single headlight setup in the new GSX-R300. It should be an LED system. We are also expecting to see an all-digital LCD dash, maybe colored too, similar to what we’ve seen in the 2017 KTM 390 Duke.
As of now, rumors tell us that Suzuki might reveal the new GSX-R300 at this year’s EICMA, and would launch it during early next year. We think that’s going to be highly unlikely. However, we do think that if the GSX-R300 becomes a reality, then we wouldn’t be surprised to see its naked sibling, maybe a GSX-S300.
