While the current season of MotoGP still has four races left, teams have already begun finalising their rider line up for 2018 MotoGP. KTM has confirmed the seats for Pol Espargaro and Bradley Smith as its main riders for the next season.

In one of the statements, KTM said, “KTM has supported Bradley Smith from the very first test on the KTM RC16 MotoGP bike in Valencia 2016. He has fitted into the team well and has worked hard at every test, practice and race as a new motorcycle is developed with new parts coming into the garage for every race. The team wants to confirm that 2018 will remain as committed to Smith as before as we both look forward to bettering results and lap times. He is a Grand Prix winner and a podium man over the three classes of Grand Prix racing he’s contested, something that KTM wishes to repeat with an orange motorcycle underneath him.”

Before this decision was finalised, there was news that KTM was also considering Mika Kallio as one of its main riders. Mika is already acting as a test rider for KTM and has been given a number of wildcard entries to race in the current season. KTM would allow Mika as a wildcard entry rider for the 2018 MotoGP too for a few selected venues.

It is quite obvious that other teams will also start finalising their riders for the 2018 MotoGP season. We’ll keep you guys updated with the latest happenings.
