Dunlop has introduced new tires for 2018 model year, extending its product range for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The new tyres feature split compound rubber.
Dunlop introduced two new tyre series for 2018. One is the D401T Series and the other is D429 Series. The 150/80/B16 section D401T rear tyre gets Multi-Tread Technology, which uses harder compound rubber down the spine of the tyre for longer tread life, and lateral grip compound rubber on both the shoulders for extra grip while leaned over.
The Dunlop D401T only comes in black sidewall color. Motorcycles like 2018 Harley-Davidson Street Bob, Slim, Heritage Classic and Classic S get the D401T as standard. It can also be fitted in place of the existing D401 on older Harley-Davidsons, giving owners more performance and safety, especially with the clever MT Multi-Tread construction.
The Dunlop D429 front and rear tyres will see application on the all-new 2018 Fat Bob and Fat Bob S. Dunlop and Harley-Davidson together designed a Scrambleresque aggressive tread pattern for the D429. It also features a computer-optimized tread profile to ensure even wear. Both the D401T and D429 feature Harley-Davidson/Dunlop branding on the sidewalls.
Harley-Davidson has had a long running partnership with Dunlop since 1983. Up to 2017, Dunlop reports having fitted more than ten million tyres on Harley-Davidsons. For 2018 model year, even more Harley-Davidson bikes will be fitted with Dunlops from the factory itself. Riders under the Harley-Davidson brand directly benefit from the Harley-Dunlop partnership, as Dunlop is the only company designing, developing and manufacturing motorcycle tyres in North America.
