Chances are, you’ve seen quite a few of these on Jumeirah Beach Road. The Can-Am Spyder is a motorcycle like no other. Sometimes, I even wonder if it classifies as a motorcycle at all. Still, it is style icon in its own sense, a ‘different’ kind of machine for those looking to make a style statement and a Honda Goldwing or a Victory Vision just doesn’t cut the mustard.
The first iteration of the Can-Am Spyder was launched in 2007 and it underwent subtle changes over the years. Still, the overall look and the underpinnings remained the same for around seven years. Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) has three variants of the Spyder on offer, Spyder RS, Spyder ST and the Spyder RT and now, there is a new Spyder in town, the Can-Am Spyder F3 Roadster.
The company claims that the new Can-Am Spyder F3 roadster is a major evolution in riding – in both design and substance – for all open-air riders. It has a muscular design, cruising-riding position and custom fit for a thrilling ride, representing the latest industry-leading innovation from BRP and the Can-Am Spyder roadster.
The engine is carried forward and is the same Rotax 1330 ACE engine, known for its power and torque. The Cam-Am Spyder F3 also gets a new signature exhaust note. Additionally, the Can-Am Spyder F3 features the exclusive UFit system, allowing riders to personalise their Spyder F3 with customised peg positions and handlebar options to express their own personality and riding style. The personalisation is enhanced further by a range of new parts, accessories, clothing and hero packages, including the Touring Escape, Muscle Attitude and Urban Nights packages.
The Can-Am Spyder F3 retains the signature Y-frame design and an advanced Vehicle Stability System, developed in partnership with Bosch, which includes traction control, stability control, and anti-lock brakes. As with all Can-Am Spyder models, the Spyder F3 offers both manual and semi-automatic transmissions.
Along with the Spyder F3, the entire Can-Am Spyder line-up is refreshed with striking new colours and introduces for the first time the Special Series available on 2015 Spyder RT, ST and RS models. These will be available only in limited quantities and I’m not sure how many of these will end up in the UAE. The line-up also comes with a wide offering of parts, accessories and clothing including the new Freedom trailer, the most advanced and stylish trailer on the market.
In the US, the Can-Am Spyder F3 is priced from $19,499. For more details on pricing and availability in the UAE, visit MTM-Powersports in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
