BMW Motorrad has unveiled its latest concept motorcycle. It is called the 9Cento Concept, and it is going to change the adventure touring segment of the motorcycle industry.
The unveiling took place at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como, Italy. The concept is a looker. It will demand a whole lot of road presence. It has got a very futuristic and radical design. It looks super cool.
One of the most interesting features of the 9Cento Concept is the way its panniers are mounted on it. So unlike conventional pannier mounting systems, BMW Motorrad found a clever way of getting the panniers on the bike. There is an electromagnet located under the pillion seat, and the panniers just clip on to this magnet in a snap. This makes it very easy for loading and unloading the luggage on those long road trips.
The 9Cento Concept is based on the parallel-twin engine that we’ve seen in the BMW F850GS. Of course, it will be re-tuned to match the 9Cento Concept’s character and capabilities.
As of now, this striking-looking motorcycle is just a concept. But if we look at BMW Motorrad’s history, it has got a habit of turning concepts into realities much sooner than we expect. Let us see when does the 9Cento Concept becomes a reality. For now, we are expecting it to be showcased at the 2018 EICMA show.
