After announcing three new high displacement motorcycles – an adventure tourer, a custom model, and a streetfighter – Harley-Davidson also revealed its plans for the Asian markets. The company has shown its interest in developing a low displacement motorcycle for these markets.
As per the news, Harley-Davidson would enter into a strategic partnership with a motorcycle manufacturer based in Asia to develop the new motorcycle. This
new product and broader distribution are intended to fuel Harley-Davidson’s customer
access and growth in India, one of the largest, fastest growing markets in the world, and
other Asia markets and stepping into such markets with a new product might just prove beneficial for the American company.
As of now, Harley-Davidson has not released any information regarding the genre of the new bike. We are expecting it to be a streetfighter or an adventure tourer rather than a cruiser motorcycle. Also, there is no information about the Asian motorcycle manufacturer with which Harley might join hands. A few of the big players in the Asian markets are already in partnership with other brands like TVS and BMW, Bajaj, and Triumph.
The 250-500cc bike is still in very initial stages of development and it wouldn’t see the limelight at least till 2020. We might get to see a prototype of the same during that time. If Harley-Davidson launches such a motorcycle at a sensible price would you be interested in getting one?
