The Yamaha R3 has been one of the favourite entry-level bikes considered by new riders. The bike has created a good number of fans across the globe since its inception. Now, Yamaha has revealed its ‘updated’ version for the international market.
The 2018 Yamaha R3 gets three new colour options – Raven, Team Yamaha Blue and Vivid White. That’s it. This is all the so-called ‘updated’ version of the bike gets. Every manufacturer does this, launch some new colours, perhaps, a few new stickers and voila, you have got an upgraded model. The R3 is a capable machine and it could have been made better in its upgraded 2018 model to give no room for its competitors. Anyway, this is the reality.
The R3 is powered by a 321cc, twin-cylinder, liquid cooled engine that produces 42 PS of max power at 10,750 rpm and a peak torque of 29.6 Nm at 9,000 rpm. It has a 6-speed gearbox. The suspension setup includes 41mm KYB forks at the front and a mono shock at the rear again by KYB. There is a 298mm single disc brake upfront and the rear carries a 220mm disc. In terms of safety features, the bike gets ABS to keep the newbies not skidding off in panic situations. However, it isn’t a standard feature and comes as an option.
Reports suggest that the 2018 Yamaha R3 will be available from Feb 2018 starting from the USA. The non ABS model gets a price tag of USD 4,999 whereas the ABS one is a bit more expensive at USD 5,299.
