The official testing of 2018 MotoGP kicked off on Sunday at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. The testing is a significant part of the preparations for the coming season. Teams and riders work together to improve their performance over last year.

On Sunday, the first day of the testing, all 23 riders were present along with a few test riders. The testing began at 10 am and continued till 6 in the evening. The morning showers made the track wet for the opening laps.

Valentino Rossi, who continuously searched for grip in the last season, looked stable and content. He was the fastest during various parts of the lap and his M1 was giving him proper feedback and confidence. Yamaha has gone back a couple of years to pick up the 2016 chassis for Rossi’s this year’s M1, as Rossi had been more comfortable with it.

The final results of the day 1 of the testing are mentioned below. It was Dani Pedrosa to lead the timesheet. His teammate and reigning world champion, Marc Marquez finished at 7th. Andrea Dovizioso, who gave Marc a fight for his title, came behind Pedrosa, whereas Rossi and his teammate Vinales were at 6th and 13th positions respectively.
