The official test session for 2018 MotoGP has just commenced a couple of days ago. While on day 1, it was Pedrosa who attained the top spot, it was Lorenzo on day 3, who completely set the track on fire by setting the fastest lap time ever at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.

Jorge Lorenzo did a lap time of 1:58.830, which is the faster ever on this track. The five-time world champion finished two-tenths of a second faster than Pedrosa, who was followed by Cal Crutchlow.

Speaking on his achievement, Lorenzo said, “The lap is a consequence of having a good bike, feeling well and being in shape. The most important thing is that the bike is working, it is giving me a good feeling and it’s improved a lot of areas compared to last year. As I said on the first day, the bike has improved and it’s more suited to my riding style and I can take profit of my strong points. We are at the beginning of how to understand how to get the maximum, there is still some margin to improve, but as a start, we cannot be happier than this – always on top, always good pace, and I’m very quick.”

This is a good beginning for Ducati. This tells us that Lorenzo is finding his bike properly tuned as per his likings. If this sweet spot is maintained during the 2018 MotoGP season, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Lorenzo giving neck-to-neck competition to his rivals.
